John,
Your descriptions are concise and informative. You’ve provided choices but didn’t bombard the reader with too many choices.
There is a friendly and trustworthy tone to your writing that is boosted by your explanation about the affiliate links on your page. I’ve never seen that done before.
I don’t think anyone objects to people making money as long as it’s done fairly and transparently.
Good job.

We are always looking for ways to enhance our outdoor oasis area. We have a courtyard in which we have plants and herbs growing and we are always looking for ideas of making it look more inviting not for ourselves, but for our company when they come over for backyard barbecues.
I do have a few questions:
Are there any sitting areas that also have a small table built-in to place our wine glasses on? A built-in side table or shelf would come in handy for a book or wine glass.
How easy are they to assemble? How easy are the instructions to understand?
Thank you for this beautiful display of red cedar wood outdoor furniture.
Stephanie,
Look under some of my post on outdoor furniture. This post will cover some side table and other sitting ideas.

This cedar outdoor furniture is so beautiful. Great advantage is that this material does not have to be painted with dangerous chemicals to preserve it. I love products that are nature friendly and harmless for people and pets. For me is the most beautiful Cedar Pergola and I can imagine myself relaxing here and reading books.
hi there
thanks a lot for all that information . quite a bit to take in. i’ve always been looking for a good swing to have outside as i just hate being inside. i’ve had a look at some of the swings you’ve shown me and i really like the look of them. will definietly stay in contact
thanks again
Adam,
The outside is the place to be, if you have an apartment or a home, you can make an outdoor space that will be the envy of your neighbors. Some of these will only do in a home because of mounting, that is what makes the arbor and stand a better idea for rentals and apartment’s.

I found your article very interesting, and timely since I’m thinking about adding an outdoor seating area. I wasn’t planning on Cedar wood, but it’s good to know that Cedar wood is safe around pets, since their are two dogs in the house. I had no idea the wood resist rot and decay, and that the natural oils are used in pesticides to get rid of insect, I love that idea. I loved the porch swing, what is the weight capacity of this swing?
Terry,
The swing itself will hold up to 450 pounds. This will depend on your structure holding up the swing also, if it is not solid the swing will not hold this much weight. Mounting the swing on solid roof trusses will be the best mounting for a porch.

I have just the place for that classic porch swing! I love the way it looks, so classic and it makes me nostalgic for my Grandma’s front porch. Cedar smells so lovely too, I can picture myself watching the sunset while rocking with my husband. You’ve given me a great idea for next spring! Thanks for writing this!
Dara,
With all of the positive comments that you have given me on this site, you are going to have a great outdoor space in the spring. Wehn you get your space done send me some pictures.

Hi, great site and great products! Do you have to treat the red cedar with any products to tackle the weather elements? I had a Canadian Red Cedar pavilion in my garden and it looked amazing but had to treat the wood annually. I will be book marking your page for sure.
Cheers, Michael
Michael,
You can leave the Red Cedar untreated. After a while(several years it will start to dry and crack. If treated it will retain its color and the water will not penetrate the surface. This will lead to longer lasting furniture. It should never have any problems with bugs. Use any thing that is for a Cedar finish, if you use a seal finish, you will have to do this every year. A finish without a seal finish, oil based, will only have to be done every few years.
