How it works
A photovoltaic cell converts the suns light to an electrical current to charge the batteries. Six hours of direct sunlight for charging the batteries will give you the best results for this light with about 8 to 10 hours of illumination.
A photocell turns on the light at dusk and turns it off at dawn. Rechargeable batteries can be changed when the lights do not give a full night's illumination.

I had a set of these lights around my patio in the backyard. They lasted very well until they got run over with the mower one day. Change the rechargeable batteries when needed and they will last as long as they do not get damaged.

These are great lights! I have a very similar set that I attached around the railing of my deck with nylon ties. They look cool!

$30 for a set of 8. That’s pretty good value. Battery life – over 1 year – are those battery’s standard? And not the manufacturers own make. Had a prob. with a gadget recently. Rechargeable battery packed in. The product was no longer stocked and the battery was in a plastic moulded casing. Couldn’t get a replacement and had to dump the unit.
Eoin,
These light fixtures come with batteries that can be replaced. Look at my article on Rechargeable Batteries it will let you know some details about replacing your solar batteries.

The path light looks great!
I like that it is solar powered.
I live in a sunny country and it’ll be great to use it efficiently.
Sylvia,
Good that you found information on the solar lights informative. They are getting better in price as time goes by.

This sounds like a great choice for a solar light to decorate the outdoors of anyone’s house. What makes it better that it’s expensive. This is definitely worth picking up.
Diondre,
The Solar path lights are starting to get better quality and longer life. They are starting to catch up with the low voltage lighting systems in outdoor spaces.

Nice post, think I’ll look for these at my local store
Thomas,
These are available in several locations. What makes these solar lights a good bargain is the price and the fact that you get 8 fixtures in the box.

My friend has these and I’ve been looking at reviews for possibly buying my own.
I think the lights, though listed as “not very bright” in your cons, actually add a pleasing ambience to his pathway. We live in the forest, so bright lights are frowned upon – they’re just enough light to walk along the path without tripping!
John,
Not very bright for the city folks. Us country people like the light that is soft and not to bright.
